Statement of Interest
(1) Careers Officer
As the current Diversity & Inclusion Officer of SJLD, I have focused on strengthening relationships with universities and engaging directly with law students at the University of Sussex and Brighton University. Recognising the competitiveness of the legal profession, I believe that building connections and gaining practical insight are key to supporting aspiring lawyers. The Employability and Networking Event I led in April was highly successful, helping students engage with professionals and understand various career routes. Following this, I suggested introducing two new SJLD Student Representative positions to enhance collaboration with university law societies and ensure students’ voices are heard.
I am currently organising our second Employability event on 4/12/2025 with SU Law Society. As Careers Officer, I would like to continue this momentum by:
creating more networking and learning opportunities for law students, including sessions on emerging technologies such as AI and legal tech
collaborate with firms across sectors—including construction, property, finance, and legal—to establish work experience and insight opportunities
expanding the SJLD mentorship programme to involve more firms, chambers, and local authorities.
I am passionate about helping junior lawyers grow, connect, and thrive in their legal careers.
