Statement of interest

(1) Vice President:

This past year as Vice President of Sussex JLD has been an incredible opportunity to revive and grow the community of junior lawyers across Sussex. I’ve worked closely with the committee to deliver engaging events, expand our network, and increase the visibility of JLD within the local legal community (and beyond).

Looking ahead, I am keen to continue building on this year’s achievements and this year's momentum. My focus will be on developing new partnerships, introducing more educational and skills-based events, enhancing our online presence through streamlining our social media efforts and introducing new membership zone, and preparing for a transition towards a paid membership model that delivers real value to our members.

I am passionate about supporting junior lawyers in Sussex and committed to helping the JLD continue to evolve, thrive, and represent our members’ interests. I would be honoured to continue serving as Vice President for the year ahead.

(2) Partnerships Officer:

As Vice President of Sussex JLD, I have had the privilege of helping grow our network, build our visibility within the local legal community, and shape the strategy for the year ahead. Through that work, I have seen first-hand how crucial strong partnerships are to our success, both in terms of funding and in delivering real value to our members.

I would like to stand for the role of Partnerships Officer to focus specifically on developing and strengthening these relationships. I plan to proactively approach law firms, chambers, and local businesses to create sponsorships and collaborations that benefit both sides. My goal is to secure partnerships that offer tangible perks to our members; from training and mentoring opportunities to venue access and event sponsorships.

I am confident that my existing connections within the Sussex legal community, combined with my communication and negotiation skills, will allow me to grow the JLD’s presence and brand. I would also work closely with the the rest of the Committee to ensure all partnerships align with our budget and long-term goals.

I remain committed to continuing the JLD’s mission of supporting and empowering junior lawyers, and I would be delighted to take on the Partnerships Officer role to help us achieve that.
