Statement of interest

(1) Vice President and Treasurer; (2) Membership Engagement Officer

It is with great pride that I submit my candidacy for the position of Vice President and Treasurer, and subsequently, for Membership Engagement Officer, for the 2025/2026 SJLD committee.

As the current Social Secretary, I believe I have effectively supported my follow committee members by providing oversight, pragmatic solutions and detailed planning throughout the year.  I consistently take on tasks and errands to ensure our events run smoothly.  I would like to think that I am always there to pick things up and take ownership when issues arise; and that I am the person when committee members need a “critical thinker” to preempt challenges and hurdles.

To enhance continuity and efficiency, I developed the committee’s central information hub earlier this year, which provides clarity and a reliable reference point.  I also proudly built the community website, including implementing a streamlined ticketing system to save significant time and effort compared to traditional sales methods.

I am also committed to fiscal responsibility to ensure the society is run with longevity in mind. I intend to work closely with the incoming Partnership Officer to make sure our events and memberships remain affordable and accessible to students and junior legal professionals.

 

I am keen to apply my proven project management skills and dedication to financial clarity to ensure the continued success of the Sussex JLD.
